Rest in peace / 安らかに眠れ
１９９７年９月に作曲されたこの作品は、故 フランク・ベンクリシュートー博士 ( Dr. Frank Bencriscutto ) に捧げられ、初演は作曲者本人の指揮、松本ウインズ・コンソートによって同年１０月に行われた。図らずも、初演は、米国における博士への追悼演奏会と全く同じ日に開催された。
故 フランク・ベンクリシュートー博士は武蔵野音楽大学客員教授として度々来日し、１９９５年には作曲者自信によって長野県松本市へ招聘され、クリニック・コンサートを開催し、以後、両氏は深く親交を結んでいたが、１９９７年８月、Dr.Benは帰らぬ人となり、その追悼のために作曲されたのがこの作品である。
技術的には演奏困難な部分は全く見あたらないが、叙情的深さのある作品で、作曲者の落胆する気持ちが良く表れている作品である。
REST IN PEACE was composed on September 1997 and dedicated to the memory of Dr. Frank Bencriscutto. The premiere was by Akira Toda with Matsumoto Winds Consort in Japan on October. The day unexpectedly was the memorial concert for Dr. Ben in USA.
Dr. Frank Bencriscutto visited to Musashino Academia Musicae as a guest professor many times. Dr. Ben was invited by Akira Toda to Matsumoto, Nagano Pref. 1995 and they made the clinic concert for band. They formed a close friendship after that but Dr. Ben deceased on August 1997. The music is Akira composed for the memory of Dr. Ben.
